2. What is included in a fully serviced villa at Hideout Villas?
Every Hideout Villas fully serviced stay includes daily housekeeping and villa care, a dedicated VIP driver host, private transfers in a Mercedes-Benz minivan or SUV, and premium thermal clothing (jacket, trousers or overall, insulated boots, gloves, woolen socks, and neck warmer) for each guest, adults and children alike. Private chef service with menus tailored to your preferences is included. During winter, a team of over 40 hospitality professionals — private chefs, driver hosts, villa hosts, housekeeping and wilderness guides — supports every stay.
3. What is the minimum stay for a villa in Lapland?
The minimum stay at Hideout Villas is 3 nights. Most guests stay 4–7 nights, allowing time to enjoy memorable Arctic experiences such as Northern Lights hunting, husky sledding, and ice driving, while keeping evenings relaxed at the villa. During peak periods, including Christmas and New Year, the 3-night minimum applies. In select circumstances outside peak periods, shorter stays may be considered on request.
4. How far in advance should I book a Christmas villa in Lapland?
For Christmas and New Year dates, we advise to book 6–12 months in advance — the most sought-after villas in Lapland are typically reserved during Spring months for the following December. Hideout Villas' collection is limited to around 30 private villas, and peak weeks sell out first. For the rest rest of the year 2-4 months ahead is usually sufficient.

5. When is the best time to see the Northern Lights in Lapland?
The Northern Lights are visible in Finnish Lapland from late August to early April, with peak viewing in September–October and February–March, when nights are long and skies are often clearest. Statistically, the aurora appears on roughly every other clear night above the Arctic Circle. 6. Which destination is best for a private villa holiday in Lapland?
Levi and Ylläs are among the best destinations for a private villa holiday in Lapland. Levi is the best all-round choice, combining excellent skiing, a wide range of private Arctic experiences and restaurants within an approximately 15 minutes drive from Kittilä Airport. Ylläs is ideal for guests seeking greater privacy, untouched fell landscapes and a deeper sense of Arctic wilderness, within approximately 45 minutes drive away from Kittilä airport. Both offer exceptional settings for a private villa stay — the best choice depends on whether you value convenience and variety or seclusion and nature.
7. What is the weather like in Lapland in December, January, February, and March?
In December, Lapland is dark and atmospheric, with near-guaranteed snow, polar night twilight, and temperatures typically around −5°C to −20°C, although colder spells below −30°C are possible. February offers excellent snow conditions and longer days, with temperatures around −5°C to −20°C; January is typically the coldest month. March brings brighter, milder days, abundant snow, and temperatures around 0°C to −15°C, ideal for outdoor activities. 8. Is Lapland worth visiting outside winter?
Yes — autumn (late August–October) offers the "ruska" foliage season and the year's first Northern Lights over snow-free lakes, while spring (April–May) combines bright days, skiable snow, and midnight twilight. Summer brings the Midnight Sun, with 24-hour daylight for hiking, e-fat biking, and lake activities. 9. How do I get to Levi, Lapland?
Fly to Kittilä Airport (KTT), which is only about 15 minutes' drive from Levi and receives direct flights from Helsinki (about 1.5 hours) plus seasonal direct routes ie. from London, Paris, Zurich, and other European cities in winter. Hideout Villas arranges private VIP transfers in Mercedes-Benz vehicles for every arrival and departure, so your driver host meets you at the terminal. Private jet arrivals into Kittilä can also be accommodated.

10. Is Lapland a good destination for a family trip with young children?
Lapland is one of the world's best family destinations: distances are short, and families can enjoy everything from meeting Santa Claus to husky sledding and other memorable Arctic experiences together. Winter typically brings excellent snow conditions from December through March. 11. Can we meet the real Santa Claus privately, without queues?
Yes — Hideout Villas arranges private VIP meetings with Santa Claus, either at a secluded cabin location or as a surprise visit to your own villa, with no queues or shared time slots, unlike public Santa villages, where visits can last just a few minutes.
12. What activities are suitable for children in Lapland?
For younger children, participation and the length of activities depend on the child and the day’s weather conditions. Reindeer and husky rides, snowmobile safaris, sledging, playing in the snow and meeting Santa Claus can all be wonderful options; however, in particularly cold conditions, it may be more comfortable for toddlers to skip longer outdoor activities. Teenagers can enjoy skiing, snowboarding, ice karting and snowmobile safaris. Ice karting requires a minimum height of 145 cm, while a valid driving licence is required to drive a snowmobile; guests of all ages can join a snowmobile safari as passengers, subject to safety requirements.There is plenty to enjoy around the villa, too. Our hosts and elves are always happy to keep little ones entertained with easy-going winter activities such as tobogganing, building snowmen, playing in the snow, gingerbread baking and other simple seasonal activities.

13. What is ice driving and do I need a special license?
Ice driving is the art of controlling a performance car on a purpose-built frozen track — learning to drift, brake, and corner on ice with a professional instructor beside you. The driving license, or motorsport experience is not required. Hideout Villas offers private ice-driving sessions, on tracks near Levi, with cars, studded tires, instruction, and transfers all arranged. Sessions suit both complete beginners and experienced drivers chasing lap times.
14. What are the chances of seeing the Northern Lights during a one-week stay?
The Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon and can never be guaranteed, regardless of the length of your stay. A 6–7 night stay between September and March gives you several opportunities, with visibility depending on aurora activity, cloud cover and local weather conditions. Dedicated Northern Lights hunting can improve your chances: Hideout Villas’ guides monitor aurora forecasts and cloud cover and travel in search of the clearest skies.
15. What should I pack for an Arctic holiday during winter months?
Surprisingly little — Hideout Villas provides for every all-inclusive booking with premium thermal outerwear: a winter jacket and trousers or overall, insulated winter boots, woolen socks, gloves, and a neck warmer, in a full range of adult and children's sizes. Pack normal indoor clothing, swimwear for the sauna and outdoor jacuzzi, a warm base layer or two, and sunglasses for bright March days.
16. What does a private chef service in a villa include?
Your private chef prepares tailored meals in your villa throughout the stay, from relaxed bistro-style dishes to refined fine dining, built around your preferences and dietary requirements.
