Sustainability

Our Approach

Sustainability is an essential part of high quality tourism services — especially in the Arctic where we operate and develop our services. We are at the beginning of our journey, also regarding sustainability and keep building our practices step by step with the aim of creating long-term positive impact.

Our first steps towards this goal are participating in the Sustainable Travel Finland (STF) programme and working towards Biosphere certification to guide and structure our development.

Environmental Sustainability

We operate in sensitive Arctic nature, where respect for the environment is essential. Our focus is firstly on developing the ways we can monitor and reduce our footprint through everyday choices — from energy use and waste management to how we design and run our activities.

We aim to make responsible decisions that protect the surrounding nature while allowing our guests to experience it in a meaningful way.

Social & Cultural Sustainability

We work closely with trusted local partners, guides, and suppliers, supporting the local community and economy. Respect for local culture and traditions is part of our daily work, and we aim to create experiences that reflect the place, its culture & people.

Fact: We employ over 40 local tourism professionals during the season.

Guest Experience

We believe that meaningful experiences also create awareness. Through the way we design our stays and activities, we encourage our guests to connect with nature, slow down, and appreciate their surroundings as well as the local way of life.

Fact: We have dedicated Guest Experience Personnel to communicate and collect feedback before, during and after the stay.

Our Path Forward

Our sustainability work has just started and is ever ongoing. We are building a structured approach through the STF and Biosphere programme that will be both documented and audited. This helps us in our goal to develop sustainability as part of our day-to-day operations, not beside it.

Fact: We have a plan of 16 concrete actions towards a higher level of sustainability that will take place between 2026-2028 — and more to follow.
